POWAR STEAM Progressing in the EIT Jumpstarter

The EIT Jumpstarter is a prestigious pre-accelerator program that supports early-stage innovators in transforming their ideas into viable businesses. This year, POWAR STEAM has advanced to the second round of the program, specifically within the New European Bauhaus (NEB) category, which aligns with our focus on creating sustainable, inclusive, and innovative educational solutions.

Progressing in the EIT Jumpstarter

The EIT Jumpstarter 2024 cohort began with 180 teams selected from across Europe. These teams participated in the initial rounds of bootcamps and training sessions designed to help refine their business models and validate their innovative ideas. After this competitive first round, only 80 teams—including POWAR STEAM—have advanced to the next stage.

As we move forward, the competition intensifies, with just 40 teams set to progress to the final round. This crucial phase will determine which projects are best positioned to make a significant impact in their respective fields.

The EIT Jumpstarter program is divided into several thematic categories, each designed to foster innovation in specific sectors critical to Europe’s future. These categories include:

Healthcare: Focusing on innovations that can transform patient care, medical technologies, and healthcare systems, this category seeks to advance solutions that address key health challenges across Europe.

Agri-Food: This category targets innovations in the food industry, including sustainable agriculture, food production, and supply chain improvements, aiming to enhance food security and sustainability.

Raw Materials: Innovations in this category revolve around sustainable mining, material recycling, and the efficient use of raw materials, contributing to the circular economy and resource efficiency.

Sustainable Energy: This category supports projects that aim to revolutionize energy production, distribution, and consumption, focusing on renewable energy sources and technologies that reduce carbon footprints.

Urban Mobility: Innovations here are designed to reshape urban transportation systems, making them more efficient, sustainable, and accessible, with a focus on reducing congestion and environmental impact.

Manufacturing: This category is dedicated to advancing new manufacturing processes and technologies that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and support the development of high-tech industries in Europe.

New European Bauhaus (NEB): As part of this category, POWAR STEAM is involved in projects that blend sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetic design. The NEB category is about creating spaces and solutions that reflect European values of beauty, sustainability, and accessibility, aligned with the European Green Deal.

These categories allow innovators to focus on areas where their ideas can make the most impact, while benefiting from the EIT Jumpstarter’s extensive network and resources

POWAR STEAM in the New European Bauhaus Category

As part of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) category, POWAR STEAM is contributing to an initiative that aims to reimagine how we live together in a more sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive way. The NEB is an interdisciplinary initiative launched by the European Commission that seeks to bring the European Green Deal to life in an innovative, aesthetically pleasing, and socially inclusive manner. It focuses on designing spaces, products, and systems that embody the values of sustainability, accessibility, and beauty.

By participating in this category, POWAR STEAM is aligning its educational innovations with the broader goals of the NEB, which encourages projects that integrate environmental consciousness with cultural and social dimensions. Our work is focused on creating educational tools and methodologies that not only teach about sustainability but also inspire creativity and foster community involvement.

Our journey in the EIT Jumpstarter will continue in Córdoba, Spain, where we will join other top innovators for an intensive session of workshops and mentoring. This gathering will be crucial for fine-tuning our approach and preparing for the next challenges.

Looking Ahead

Advancing to the second round of the EIT Jumpstarter is a significant milestone for us, but the journey is far from over. As we prepare for the upcoming sessions in Córdoba, our focus is on enhancing our innovative approach to climate education by integrating educational robotics, electronics, 3D printing, and programming. These technologies are not only crucial for engaging students in sustainability but also for equipping them with essential skills for the future.

Our mission is to deliver climate education in a way that is interactive and impactful. By utilizing robotics and electronics, we can bring environmental concepts to life, allowing students to build and program robots that simulate ecological processes or demonstrate the effects of climate change. This hands-on approach makes learning about sustainability more tangible and engaging, helping students to better understand and internalize these critical issues.

3D printing further enriches this educational experience by enabling students to create models and prototypes that reflect their learning. Whether it's designing tools for environmental monitoring or creating sustainable product prototypes, 3D printing empowers students to turn abstract ideas into physical realities, fostering creativity and innovation.

Programming ties all these elements together, teaching students the logic and problem-solving skills needed to control their robotic creations, manage electronic sensors, or optimize 3D printed designs. By learning to code, students gain a deeper understanding of how technology can be used to address environmental challenges, preparing them to become the next generation of innovators in the fight against climate change.

As we continue our journey in the EIT Jumpstarter, we are excited to integrate these technologies into our educational solutions, making climate education more effective and engaging than ever before. With the support of the EIT Community, we are optimistic about our chances of progressing to the final round and making a lasting impact through our innovative approach to education.

An Invitation to Innovators

For those with innovative ideas, the EIT Jumpstarter offers an exceptional platform to bring them to life. The program provides access to top mentors, resources, and a broad European network.
